ST. LOUIS — A quiet early morning in Downtown St. Louis was shattered by gunfire, leaving one woman, identified as Raykel Desiree, fighting for her life after a shooting in the Carr Square neighborhood.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers from District 4 responded to reports of a shooting in the 1600 block of Biddle Street at approximately 1:07 a.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival, they found Raykel Desiree, an adult female, suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical crews rushed Raykel to a nearby hospital, where she remains in critical condition as doctors work tirelessly to save her life. Detectives and crime scene investigators immediately secured the area and began collecting evidence, canvassing for witnesses, and reviewing nearby surveillance footage in an effort to determine what led to the violent incident.
At this time, no arrests have been made, and authorities have not released details about a possible suspect or motive.
