INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Authorities have identified Ashley Sanders as the victim in a fatal shooting that occurred late Tuesday night on the near northwest side of Indianapolis. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) has confirmed that 38-year-old Steven Baker Jr. has been identified and arrested as the suspect in connection with her death.
Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of West 29th Street shortly before midnight following reports of gunfire in the area. When first responders arrived, they discovered a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical assistance and life-saving efforts at the scene, Sanders was pronounced deceased.
Investigators quickly began processing the scene, collecting evidence, and speaking with witnesses. Their investigation led them to identify Steven Baker Jr. as the person responsible for the fatal shooting. Baker was taken into custody and now faces preliminary charges related to the homicide.
