WILSON COUNTY, Tenn. (October 14, 2025) — A second individual has been convicted in connection with the tragic 2022 death of 22-year-old Mya Fuller, whose remains were discovered in Wilson County, Tennessee. On October 14, 2025, 22-year-old Ty’Shawne Bowles pleaded guilty to facilitation of especially aggravated kidnapping and received a 12-year prison sentence, according to 15th Judicial District Attorney General Jason Lawson. Bowles’ plea follows the earlier conviction of Taiyana Tipton, who pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and received a life sentence, while La’Myra Pipkins remains charged and is scheduled for trial in November 2025. As part of the plea agreement, Bowles may be eligible for release after serving 30% of his sentence.
Background on Mya Fuller’s Disappearance
Mya Fuller was last seen by her family on July 29, 2022, after working an event at Geodis Park in Nashville. Later that night, she was reportedly at the nightclub Island Vibes on Antioch Pike. Her 2020 gray Toyota Camry was later discovered in the club’s parking lot.
Three individuals were charged in connection with Fuller’s death: Ty’Shawne Bowles, Taiyana Tipton, and La’Myra Pipkins.
Bowles’ Role in the Case
Prosecutors allege that Bowles became involved after learning of an altercation between his sister, Tipton, and Fuller. Bowles reportedly invited Fuller to a party, during which Tipton and Pipkins allegedly attacked her. Fuller had gone to the party after leaving her shift at Geodis Park, where she had worked at a Nashville SC soccer game.
Following the attack, Tipton allegedly placed Fuller in the trunk of her car and transported her to a property in Wilson County, where she reportedly shot Fuller seven times. Detectives recovered seven shell casings at the scene, marking the location where Fuller’s life was tragically taken.
In an interview with police, Bowles admitted to inviting Fuller to the party but denied knowledge of any plan to kidnap or harm her. Bowles was initially scheduled for trial on October 13, 2025, before reaching the plea agreement.
Sentencing and Legal Considerations
Bowles was sentenced to 12 years in prison, which falls within the statutory range of 8–12 years for especially aggravated kidnapping. He had also faced murder charges, but prosecutors determined that his level of involvement did not extend to participating in Fuller’s death.
“Sometimes in criminal cases people have different levels of involvement and responsibility,” Lawson said in a news release. “(The) plea reflects the level of involvement that Ty’Shawne Bowles had in this case. He invited her there, and so he has responsibility, but the evidence does not show he intended or participated in her death.”
Remembering Mya Fuller
Fuller’s death shocked the Nashville community and brought attention to the tragic circumstances surrounding her disappearance. Her family continues to mourn her loss and seek justice as legal proceedings continue against the remaining defendant.
The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, along with prosecutors, emphasizes the importance of community cooperation in resolving violent crimes and bringing closure to victims’ families.
