The fatal crash, which occurred in the 3100 block of Sandwich Street, remains under active investigation by police and accident reconstruction specialists.
According to an official Windsor Police News Release (Case #25-108887), officers were called to the scene shortly after 8 p.m. following reports of a serious collision involving two vehicles and a pedestrian. Upon arrival, emergency responders found Elliott critically injured after being struck twice during the incident.
A preliminary investigation determined that Kim Duane Elliott had been crossing Sandwich Street mid-block when he was initially hit by an oncoming vehicle. The force of the impact propelled him into the opposite lane, where he was tragically struck by a second vehicle. Despite immediate medical attention and being rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, Elliott succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
Police confirmed that both drivers involved remained at the scene and fully cooperated with responding officers. There is currently no indication of impairment or reckless driving, though investigators are continuing to review all factors that may have contributed to the collision.
In the hours following the crash, Sandwich Street was closed between Mill Street and Detroit Street as members of the Windsor Police Service Traffic Reconstruction Unit conducted a thorough on-site investigation, collecting evidence, reviewing road conditions, and documenting the scene. The roadway has since been reopened to traffic.
Authorities are appealing to the public for assistance.
