Tragic Case in Mableton: Cobb County Man Accused of Killing and Burying Girlfriend Tange Davis-Hutti

MABLETON, Ga. — October 15, 2025 — A shocking and heartbreaking case has emerged in Cobb County after authorities announced that Cecil McCrary, who was out on pretrial release for prior domestic violence charges, has been accused of killing and burying his girlfriend, 45-year-old Tange Davis-Hutti, following her disappearance earlier this month.

According to the Cobb County Police Department (CCPD), Davis-Hutti was last seen on October 9, 2025, and her family and friends immediately began searching for her when she failed to make contact for several days. Concern intensified as their efforts yielded no answers.

Authorities became involved on October 11, after a 911 call regarding Davis-Hutti’s disappearance was received. Officers responded to the Lidl grocery store on Floyd Road in Mableton, where they met with Davis-Hutti’s son. Using OnStar technology, he had located his mother’s vehicle in the parking lot, raising urgent questions about her whereabouts.

During the investigation, Cecil McCrary, Davis-Hutti’s boyfriend, arrived at the scene. He told officers that he last saw her when she left his residence on October 9 and provided surveillance footage confirming that she had left the home that day.

Davis-Hutti was officially entered into the national missing persons database, and the CCPD Major Crimes Unit took over the case. In the meantime, her family and friends conducted their own search, sharing updates and pleas for information on social media. Several posts expressed growing suspicion toward McCrary, noting prior issues in the couple’s relationship and that he had failed to meet with family members when expected.

As public concern escalated, the Cobb County Police issued a Be On the Lookout (BOLO) alert for Davis-Hutti on social media. Only hours later, McCrary was taken into custody. During questioning, police say he confessed to killing Davis-Hutti and admitted to burying her body on a property within the City of Atlanta.

Cobb County Police immediately coordinated with the Atlanta Police Department, and both agencies responded to the undisclosed location, where they recovered Davis-Hutti’s remains.

Investigators revealed that Cobb County officers had previously responded to multiple domestic violence incidents involving McCrary and Davis-Hutti, highlighting a history of abuse. At the time of his arrest, McCrary was already out on pretrial release for kidnapping and aggravated assault charges stemming from prior domestic violence offenses.

McCrary is now in custody and facing additional charges related to the death of Davis-Hutti. Authorities continue to investigate the case, seeking to uncover further details surrounding the events that led to this tragic loss.

The community has expressed shock and grief at the news, extending thoughts and prayers to Davis-Hutti’s family, friends, and loved ones.

This devastating case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing risks of domestic violence and the importance of vigilance, support, and intervention for victims.
