(PEORIA, IL) — The Peoria Police Department is deeply saddened to share news of a tragic incident that claimed the life of 71-year-old Rudy O. Stuffel, a longtime resident of Peoria, on Monday morning, October 27, 2025.
At approximately 6:50 a.m., Peoria Police were dispatched to the intersection of Spalding Avenue and NE Monroe Street after receiving a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers and emergency medical personnel located Mr. Stuffel, who had sustained severe injuries. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts, he was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Peoria County Coroner later confirmed that Rudy O. Stuffel suffered multiple blunt force trauma injuries and died instantly. In accordance with Illinois State Statute, toxicology testing is pending as part of the official investigation.
