In Loving Memory: Remembering Ja’kevis Xzavion Sweet, 19 — A Life Tragically Cut Short in Enterprise, Alabama

ENTERPRISE, AL — The community of Enterprise is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 19-year-old Ja’kevis Xzavion Sweet, who tragically lost his life in a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning, November 2, 2025, on Gibson Street.

According to the Enterprise Police Department, officers responded around 1:00 a.m. to a report of a possible shooting in the 100 block of Gibson Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered one male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, later identified as Ja’kevis Xzavion Sweet, was transported to Medical Center Enterprise, where despite emergency efforts, he was pronounced deceased.

A Young Life Gone Too Soon

At just 19 years old, Ja’kevis was a young man full of promise, energy, and kindness. Those who knew him describe him as someone with a big heart, a bright smile, and an infectious spirit that made those around him feel welcome. Friends say he had dreams for his future and was known for his loyalty, sense of humor, and the love he showed to family and friends alike.

The sudden and senseless nature of his death has left loved ones, neighbors, and the entire Enterprise community in shock and grief. Candlelight vigils and heartfelt social media posts have poured in from those mourning his loss — messages filled with love, prayers, and calls for justice.

Suspect Arrested

Following a swift investigation, police arrested Zachary Qualls in connection with the shooting. Qualls has been charged with one count of Murder and was taken into custody at the Coffee County Jail in New Brockton.

The Enterprise Police Department Criminal Investigations Division continues to investigate the case to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting. Authorities have not released additional information at this time but assure the public that the case remains an active priority.
