HORRY COUNTY, S.C. — The Murrells Inlet community is mourning the devastating loss of 20-year-old Jacob Krusen, who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle crash early Monday morning. According to the Horry County Coroner’s Office, Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard confirmed that Krusen, a resident of Murrells Inlet, died from injuries sustained in the collision.
The crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 17 Business and Inlet Square Drive. Authorities from the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) reported that Jacob was traveling south on his 2023 KTM motorcycle when he collided with the side of a northbound 2024 Ford Expedition that was attempting to turn left onto Inlet Square Drive.
Emergency crews responded swiftly to the scene, but despite life-saving efforts, Jacob succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the SUV was not injured, according to SCHP Corporal David Jones.
Jacob’s passing has left a profound void in the hearts of his loved ones and the broader Murrells Inlet community. Friends and family describe him as a bright, kind-hearted young man with an infectious smile and a passion for motorcycles and adventure. His loss is not only felt by those closest to him but also by many who had come to know him for his warm spirit and gentle nature.
As investigators continue to review the circumstances surrounding the crash, the community has rallied together to honor Jacob’s memory and offer support to his grieving family.
The tragic incident serves as a somber reminder of the importance of roadway safety and awareness, especially during early morning hours when visibility can be limited.
At just 20 years old, Jacob Krusen’s life was full of promise—a life that ended far too soon. His family, friends, and all who knew him will remember his energy, kindness, and the joy he brought into their lives.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in the coming days as loved ones prepare to celebrate Jacob’s life and legacy.
May his memory live on as a light of love, laughter, and inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
