EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Georgia — October 19, 2025 – Heartbreak rippled through the community of Effingham County early Sunday morning after a tragic single-vehicle crash claimed the life of 26-year-old Victory Lewis Mason, a beloved resident of Port Wentworth, Georgia.
According to the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit, the crash occurred just after midnight on Kolic Helmey Road, when Mason’s Ford Mustang was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed. Authorities say Mason failed to stop at a stop sign, causing the vehicle to veer off the roadway and collide with multiple buildings in a nearby residential area.
Emergency personnel arrived quickly and attempted life-saving measures; however, Mason was ejected from the vehicle during the impact and tragically died at the scene from his injuries.
Preliminary investigations by the ECSO indicate that speed and alcohol consumption were contributing factors in the crash. The Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, asking anyone with additional information to contact Sgt. Jason Fondren at 912-754-3449.
While the investigation remains active, friends and loved ones are left mourning the sudden loss of a young man whose life ended far too soon. Those who knew Victory describe him as charismatic, outgoing, and full of energy, someone who could light up any room he entered. He was known for his love of cars, music, and family, and for the laughter he brought to those closest to him.
Tributes have begun to pour in across social media as loved ones share their grief and favorite memories of Victory — from his kindness and humor to his adventurous spirit. Many expressed disbelief that such a vibrant soul could be gone in an instant.
“He wasn’t perfect, but he was real — and he loved deeply,” one friend shared online. “Victory will never be forgotten. His smile and his heart will live on through everyone who knew him.”
As the community comes together to remember Victory Mason, friends and family are expected to announce funeral arrangements and a celebration of life in the coming days.
The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office reminds all drivers to slow down, drive responsibly, and never drink and drive, hoping that this tragedy will serve as a sobering reminder of how precious and fragile life truly is.
Rest in Peace, Victory Lewis Mason.
Gone too soon, but forever remembered.
