In Loving Memory of Tre G. Mincey

In Loving Memory of Tre G. Mincey

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we acknowledge the tragic passing of Tre G. Mincey, a 30-year-old man whose life was taken far too soon in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 25th. Tre lost his life to gun violence in the parking lot of 200 Lanier Drive, an area shared by Cowboy’s Bar and Smoke Crave. He was found by responding officers of the Statesboro Police Department and pronounced deceased at the scene.

Tre was more than just a name in a media release — he was a son, a friend, a loved one, and a member of a community that now feels the weight of his absence. Those who knew him describe him as someone with a warm presence and a life full of potential and purpose. His passing has left family, friends, and loved ones in shock, grief, and heartbreak as they try to make sense of such a sudden and senseless loss.

Authorities were able to identify Tre quickly using an SPD portable fingerprint scanner, and his family was notified with care. Out of respect for his loved ones, his identity was initially withheld during the early stages of the investigation — but the community now stands together honoring him by name, remembering his life rather than only the circumstances of his death.

Detectives with the Statesboro Police Department have been actively reviewing video surveillance and gathering evidence, including Flock tag reader data, in hopes of identifying those responsible. Video footage confirms there were multiple witnesses nearby when the shooting occurred — individuals who have not yet come forward. Law enforcement is urgently pleading with these witnesses to speak up. Their voices may be the key to providing Tre’s family with answers, justice, and the first steps toward healing.

Tre will be taken to the GBI Coastal Regional Lab for an autopsy, a necessary part of the investigation, though one that underscores the heartbreaking reality of this tragedy. A family now prepares to grieve, to remember, and to mourn a life that should have had many more days, many more laughs, many more moments.

The community is being asked to help:
