In Loving Memory of Josh Kissel : A Beloved Friend and Music Community Soul Gone Too Soon

It is with a heavy heart that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Josh Kissel. On Monday, while in Springfield, Missouri, Josh suddenly suffered cardiac arrest while visiting a local store. He was transported to Cox Medical Center, where efforts were made to save him, but tragically, he did not survive.

Josh was more than a friend—he was a presence. A supporter. A teammate. A constant source of dedication and love for the world of live music. Known throughout the music community as a gifted sound engineer, Josh poured his passion into every show, every performance, every artist he stood behind. His love for music was matched only by his genuine kindness and the way he made others feel welcomed, appreciated, and understood.

To musicians, he wasn’t just the guy behind the soundboard—he was family.

To his friends, he was a brother.

To many, he was a light.

Josh shared a deep love for those who shaped his life, and we take comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his mother and brother—two souls he cherished and missed deeply. It brings a small measure of peace to imagine them together again, holding him close in the warmth of eternity.

This loss has left a tremendous emptiness in the hearts of all who knew him. We ask that everyone keep Josh’s father, his family, and his many friends in their thoughts and prayers as they navigate this painful and unexpected tragedy. Grief has a way of reminding us how deeply we are capable of loving—and Josh was truly loved.

Josh leaves behind a legacy of music, laughter, late-night conversations, shared meals, and unspoken understanding. From quiet moments to concert halls, his impact will echo for years to come. He enriched lives simply by being in them.

He will be missed—on stage, off stage, and everywhere in between.

Rest in peace, Josh.

We take comfort in knowing that you are now where your heart already was—on the main stage in the sky, surrounded by music, light, and those you missed the most.

Until we meet again — keep the sound warm and the music alive.
