The Clewiston community is mourning the tragic loss of 32-year-old Jacyrus Lee Hudson, who died from gunshot wounds sustained early Sunday morning, October 19, 2025, in the Harlem neighborhood of Clewiston, located in eastern Hendry County.
According to the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), deputies were dispatched to the area of 1825 13th Street following reports of gunfire near Club Gossip, a local nightclub that had been crowded with patrons at the time. When deputies arrived, they encountered a chaotic scene with several people running and vehicles fleeing the area. Law enforcement officers quickly secured the perimeter, establishing a crime scene to preserve critical evidence.
As deputies investigated, the Hendry County Sheriff’s Telecommunications Center received word that a gunshot victim was being transported to a nearby medical facility. Despite emergency efforts, Jacyrus Hudson succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. His death has left family members, friends, and community members heartbroken and seeking answers.
While detectives continued their work at the scene, they were notified by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office that another gunshot victim had arrived at Lakeside Memorial Hospital in Belle Glade. Detectives traveled to Belle Glade to follow up and confirmed that the second victim had also been present at Club Gossip earlier that evening. However, investigators have not yet determined whether that individual’s injuries are directly connected to the shooting that claimed Hudson’s life.
The Hendry County Sheriff’s Office has mobilized multiple resources, including crime scene units and investigators, to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and review surveillance footage from the surrounding area. Detectives are diligently canvassing the Harlem neighborhood, seeking anyone who may have seen or heard anything that could help bring justice to Jacyrus and closure to his grieving loved ones.
Authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information that could assist in identifying the individual or individuals responsible for this senseless act of violence.
“We know that someone out there saw or heard something,” an HCSO spokesperson said. “We need the community’s help to ensure that Jacyrus and his family receive the justice they deserve.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office at (863) 674-5600 and ask to speak with a detective. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). Tips that lead to an arrest, the recovery of weapons, or the capture of a suspect could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $3,000.
As loved ones grapple with this devastating loss, many remember Jacyrus Hudson as a young man with a bright spirit and deep ties to his community — a son, brother, and friend taken far too soon. His passing serves as a somber reminder of the urgent need to end the cycle of violence that has affected so many families in South Florida.
Rest in Peace, Jacyrus Lee Hudson.
Gone too soon, but never forgotten. May justice be served, and may his family find comfort and strength in the days ahead.
