The Greenville community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 81-year-old Hettie L. Bruce, who tragically passed away following a vehicle-versus-pedestrian accident on Poinsett Highway earlier today.
According to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, the incident occurred shortly before 10:00 a.m. on October 15, 2025, in the 1900 block of Poinsett Hwy. Emergency medical services responded quickly and transported Ms. Bruce to Prisma Health–Greenville Memorial Hospital, where, despite the efforts of medical personnel, she sadly succumbed to her injuries. Her passing was officially pronounced at 1:13 p.m.
Authorities have identified the cause of death as multiple blunt force trauma, with the manner of death ruled accidental.
Hettie L. Bruce was a beloved member of the Greenville community — remembered by family, friends, and neighbors as a kind, gentle, and compassionate woman who always greeted others with a warm smile.
