Marana, AZ – October 29, 2025 — The community of Marana is mourning the loss of 53-year-old Edwin Alexander, who tragically lost his life in a fatal bicycle collision on Wednesday morning. The heartbreaking incident occurred near W. Twin Peaks Road and W. Camino De Manana, where Edwin was struck by a 2024 Kenworth cement truck shortly after 8:30 a.m.

The Marana Police Department (MPD) and personnel from the Northwest Fire District responded immediately after receiving reports of the collision. Upon arrival, officers located Edwin unresponsive on the roadway. Despite the swift and dedicated efforts of first responders, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Authorities confirmed that both Edwin and the cement truck were northbound on Twin Peaks Road, stopped at a red light at the intersection of Camino De Manana. When the light turned green, both began moving forward, and the tragic collision occurred just north of the intersection. The driver of the cement truck remained on scene and is fully cooperating with investigators.

The Marana Police Department Traffic Unit took over the investigation, meticulously gathering evidence, speaking with witnesses, and reconstructing the scene to determine exactly how the collision occurred. At this time, no citations or arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing. Officials have not yet determined whether impairment, visibility, or speed were contributing factors.

The Marana Police Department expressed sincere gratitude to the bystanders and community members who rushed to Edwin’s aid immediately after the collision, offering comfort and support before emergency crews arrived. Their compassion in a moment of tragedy did not go unnoticed.
