OTTAWA, Ontario — The Ottawa community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 21-year-old Joshua Qiyuk, whose life was tragically cut short in what authorities have now confirmed to be a homicide. The young man’s body was discovered early Tuesday morning, leaving family, friends, and neighbors devastated as police work tirelessly to find answers.

According to the Ottawa Police Service, officers were called to the area of Meadow Park Place, near Beechwood Cemetery, at approximately 8:13 a.m. on October 22, 2025, after reports of a body being found. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim who was unresponsive. Paramedics were immediately dispatched, but despite emergency efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Following a preliminary examination and assistance from the Forensic Identification Unit and Major Crime detectives, investigators confirmed that the victim had sustained stab wounds, and the case has been officially ruled a homicide. The victim was later identified as 21-year-old Joshua Qiyuk.
