CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed that the victim of an early-morning accident on Saratoga Boulevard is 35-year-old Brodrick Johnson, a Corpus Christi resident whose life was tragically cut short.

The incident occurred on Monday morning near the intersection of Weber Road and Saratoga Boulevard, prompting the Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD) to temporarily close westbound lanes to ensure the safety of investigators and emergency personnel.

According to reports, officers were dispatched to the 3900 block of Saratoga Boulevard at approximately 4:49 a.m. following calls regarding a major traffic accident involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers located Brodrick Johnson lying in the roadway, severely injured. Emergency personnel from the Corpus Christi Fire Department (CCFD) provided immediate medical care and transported him to a nearby hospital. Despite the efforts of first responders, Johnson later succumbed to his injuries.

Senior Officer Antonio Contreras of CCPD confirmed that preliminary investigations indicate Johnson had crossed Saratoga Boulevard outside of a designated crosswalk when he was struck by a westbound vehicle. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and has been cooperating with law enforcement as the investigation continues.

The CCPD Traffic Division conducted a detailed examination of the accident scene to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the collision. Once the investigation was complete, westbound traffic on Saratoga Boulevard was reopened around 8:30 a.m. Authorities are reminding residents and visitors alike to always use designated crosswalks, obey traffic signals, and remain vigilant while on roadways to prevent future tragedies.
