Edinburg, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is investigating a deadly crash that took the life of 25-year-old Juan Antonio Villasana on Saturday evening. The collision occurred at approximately 8:33 p.m. on East Ingle Road, just north of Jasman Road, in a rural area north of Edinburg.
According to preliminary findings released by DPS, Villasana was a passenger in a Can-Am Maverick, a type of off-road all-terrain vehicle (ATV), which was traveling westbound along East Ingle Road with another male individual operating the vehicle. At the same time, a Nissan Kicks, also driven by a male, was traveling behind the Maverick in the same direction.
Investigators say the driver of the Nissan attempted to pass the Maverick on the left side while both vehicles were moving westbound. During the passing maneuver, the Nissan and the Maverick collided, leading to a catastrophic impact that caused severe injuries to Villasana. Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and evaluated both drivers involved in the collision. Neither of them required transportation to the hospital, according to the report.
Tragically, Juan Antonio Villasana died at the scene as a result of the injuries he sustained in the crash.

The Texas Department of Public Safety has confirmed that the crash remains under active investigation. Authorities are working to determine:
