THIBODAUX, LA (October 14, 2025) — Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced Monday the dismissal and arrest of Natacia Brown, 20, a correctional officer at the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex, following allegations that she supplied synthetic marijuana to an inmate. Brown, a resident of Thibodaux, was immediately terminated upon her arrest.
Investigation Details
The investigation began last week after administrators at the Correctional Complex discovered that Brown had reportedly brought contraband into the facility for an inmate. According to authorities, the illicit transaction had been coordinated outside the jail, after which Brown allegedly delivered synthetic marijuana to the inmate.
During questioning by investigators, Brown admitted her involvement in the incident. Further investigation revealed a second incident, in which Brown had allegedly attempted to smuggle additional drugs into the facility on a different date.
Sheriff Webre emphasized that the allegations reflect a serious breach of trust:
“Any effort to bring illegal substances into our facilities undermines safety and security for both staff and inmates. We will not tolerate such behavior.”
Charges and Booking
Brown was booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux. She faces multiple charges, including:
- Taking contraband to a penal institution
- Attempted taking contraband to a penal institution

Her bail has been set at $150,000.
Employment History
Natacia Brown had been employed with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office for just over two years, working as a correctional officer at the Correctional Complex. Her employment ended immediately upon her arrest, underscoring the seriousness with which the sheriff’s office treats violations of trust and institutional security.
Sheriff’s Statement
Sheriff Webre reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining integrity and safety within the parish’s correctional facilities:
“Our officers are entrusted with upholding the law and ensuring the safety of everyone in our care. Violations of that trust will be met with swift action — as this case clearly demonstrates.”
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office continues to review its policies and procedures to prevent similar incidents in the future and urges anyone with information regarding contraband activities to report it immediately.
This case serves as a reminder of the responsibilities correctional staff hold and the serious consequences of violating institutional rules and the law.
