MACON, Ga. — A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded tonight in Macon-Bibb County as authorities confirmed the identities of two of the victims killed in a deadly triple shooting. According to Coroner Leon Jones, the victims have been identified as 21-year-old Brandon Thomas and 27-year-old Quantayris Townsend — brothers whose lives were tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire.
The third victim remains unidentified at this time and is being listed as a John Doe, pending further investigation and notification of next of kin.
Officials said the shooting occurred late tonight in a residential area, prompting a massive law enforcement response. Deputies with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office arrived to find multiple individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite emergency medical efforts, all three men were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Coroner Leon Jones described the situation as devastating, noting that the violent loss of two brothers from the same family has deeply shaken the community.
“It’s tragic beyond words,” Jones said. “We have two young brothers gone tonight — and another life we still don’t have a name for. Families are grieving, and our community is hurting.”
The scene was secured overnight as investigators collected shell casings, canvassed nearby homes for surveillance footage, and interviewed witnesses. Authorities have not released details about a possible suspect or motive at this time.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit is leading the investigation, and officials are urging anyone with information to come forward.
“We need the community’s help,” a sheriff’s spokesperson stated. “If you saw something, say something. These families deserve answers and justice.”
As word of the tragedy spread, friends and neighbors took to social media to express their grief and disbelief. Many described Brandon and Quantayris as kindhearted, respectful young men who shared a close bond and were loved by many.
A small memorial began forming near the scene later tonight, with candles, balloons, and handwritten notes left in memory of the two brothers. Community leaders and clergy have also called for peace and unity in the wake of the senseless violence.
The identities of the victims have left a lasting mark on those who knew them.
