ALBANY COUNTY, NY (WRGB) — Authorities have identified the victim killed in a devastating wrong-way crash on Interstate 787 over the weekend as 38-year-old Eric Hurley of Albany, while the driver who caused the crash has been identified as 44-year-old Lewis Thomas of Coxsackie. Known for his strong work ethic, innovative thinking, and kind personality, Hurley quickly earned respect and admiration from his team and local officials alike.
Watervliet Mayor Charles Patricelli spoke emotionally about Hurley’s passing, saying:
“To say the least, we are still in a state of shock. I have met many employees over the years, but Eric was certainly an exception. He was full of ideas and treated the plant with so much enthusiasm. We all will miss him and just feel horrible for his family to lose someone to a careless act that was certainly avoidable.”
