Taylorsville, NC — Authorities have made a significant arrest in the murder investigation of Jamie Suzette McCloud, a 54-year-old woman from Taylorsville, whose life was tragically taken earlier this month. The case, which has drawn attention across the region, involves a suspect who was located and apprehended in Ohio following a multi-state investigation.
On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at approximately 1:03 p.m., deputies from the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence at 209 Stan De La Drive in Taylorsville after receiving a report regarding a potential death. Upon arrival, officers found the body of Jamie Suzette McCloud. The victim was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital for an autopsy, which later confirmed that the cause of death was homicide.
During the investigation, authorities determined that McCloud had been in a dating relationship with the suspect, identified as 32-year-old William Marshal Shook of Claremont, North Carolina. Deputies also discovered that McCloud’s 2005 gray Toyota Tacoma was missing from the scene. A warrant was subsequently issued for Shook for Larceny of a Motor Vehicle.
The investigation quickly expanded beyond North Carolina. On Thursday, October 9, 2025, deputies with the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio located the stolen vehicle during a traffic stop in Lancaster, Ohio, and took Shook into custody on the outstanding larceny warrant.
Following his arrest, Shook appeared in Ohio court on Monday, October 13, 2025, where he waived extradition to North Carolina. He was transported back to Alexander County and formally booked into the Alexander County Detention Center on Thursday, October 16, 2025.
Upon his return, Shook was additionally charged with one count of murder in connection with the death of Jamie McCloud. He is currently being held without bond, and his first court appearance is scheduled for Monday, October 20, 2025, in Alexander County District Court.
