KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A tragic crash early Monday morning has claimed the life of a motorcyclist near the Ford plant in Claycomo, prompting an investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP).
According to officials, the collision occurred around 5:50 a.m. on U.S. 69 near Grove Street, in the area of the Ford assembly facility. Preliminary findings from the MSHP indicate that the motorcycle was traveling eastbound when a car traveling westbound attempted to make a left turn into a parking lot. In that moment, the motorcycle collided with the turning vehicle, resulting in a devastating impact.
The force of the crash caused the motorcyclist to be ejected from the bike. Despite the rapid response of emergency personnel, the rider was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of family members.
Authorities are continuing to piece together the exact sequence of events that led to the deadly crash. Investigators from the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Troop A division spent several hours at the site, examining the wreckage, documenting evidence, and interviewing witnesses in an effort to determine contributing factors such as speed, visibility, or potential driver error.
