Layloni tragically lost her life on Monday evening, October 13, 2025, after being struck by a car outside the Economy Inn on Ketchum Road, on the city’s southeast side. Her untimely death has left her family, friends, and community devastated.

According to the Memphis Police Department (MPD), officers were dispatched to the scene shortly after 6:15 p.m. and discovered that a Chevrolet Impala traveling through the motel’s parking lot had struck Layloni while she was walking. Emergency responders rushed her to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, where, despite efforts to save her, she tragically passed away.

Layloni’s family identified her as a vibrant and beloved little girl. The family shared that they lived at the motel and that Layloni had been playing outside, chasing a ball, at the time of the accident. Her sudden passing is an unimaginable loss for her loved ones and all who knew her bright, joyful spirit.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, and authorities have stated that no charges or arrests had been made at this time. The Memphis Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
