PORTAVOGIE, COUNTY DOWN, NI – Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s (PSNI) Major Investigation Team have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Portavogie. The victim has been named as 28-year-old Jordan Webb.
Emergency services, including police and the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, were called to a property on New Harbour Road in the County Down village on the morning of Monday, 3 November. Upon arrival, officers found Mr. Webb deceased.
Detective Inspector Hollie McCartan, who is leading the investigation, confirmed the tragic news, saying:
“Sadly, Mr Jordan Webb was pronounced dead at the scene. My thoughts are with Jordan’s family and loved ones at this most difficult time. Our enquiries continue, and I would reiterate my appeal to anyone with information to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 246 of 03/11/2025.”
A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody as detectives carry out further inquiries. Authorities are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding Mr. Webb’s death.
Police have appealed to the public for assistance, urging anyone who may have witnessed unusual activity in the New Harbour Road area overnight or in the early hours of Monday morning to come forward. Officers are particularly interested in information that could help piece together the events leading to the incident.
The Major Investigation Team is conducting a thorough examination of the scene and gathering evidence to ensure a full understanding of the circumstances. The PSNI stressed that the investigation is ongoing, and additional updates will be provided as inquiries progress.
