SHERMAN — The community of Sherman is reeling after a shooting early Sunday morning left a local woman, whose name has not yet been publicly released, injured. According to the Sherman Police Department, officers were dispatched at 1:53 a.m. on November 2, 2025, to the intersection of West McGee Street and North Travis Street following reports of a woman shot by 19-year-old Tradavian Taylor. Upon arrival, officers located the adult female victim, who had suffered a single gunshot wound to her back.
Circumstances of the Shooting
Initial investigation by Sherman PD revealed that the victim and the suspect, Tradavian Taylor, had attended a party earlier in the evening. Following the party, the victim provided transportation for Taylor and another passenger. Investigators say that after Taylor exited the vehicle, he pulled out a handgun and fired one shot into the driver’s seat, striking the woman.
Police believe the shooting was a result of the victim declining Taylor’s request to accompany him back to his residence. The passenger in the vehicle was not injured.
The victim was able to speak with officers at the scene before being transported to a local hospital, where she is expected to make a full recovery.
Suspect Apprehended
Sherman PD quickly identified Tradavian Taylor as the suspect. He was later located in the 1400-block of North Highland, where detectives obtained and executed search warrants, recovering additional evidence connecting him to the shooting.
An arrest warrant for two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon was issued, and Taylor was subsequently arrested without incident. He is currently in custody as the investigation continues.
Authorities have emphasized that the incident appears isolated, but Sherman PD is asking anyone with information about the case to come forward and assist with the investigation.
