84-Year-Old Edward Pickles Dies After Being Struck by Vehicle in North Phoenix

PHOENIX — The Phoenix Police Department is investigating a tragic accident that claimed the life of 84-year-old Edward Pickles Thursday evening in north Phoenix.

According to authorities, the fatal collision occurred around 7:30 p.m. on October 30 near 32nd Street and Bell Road. Police said Pickles was attempting to cross 32nd Street mid-block when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle.

Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene, where Mr. Pickles was found with serious injuries. He was transported to a nearby hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

Investigators reported that the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated fully with police. At this stage, impairment is not believed to be a factor in the crash. Officers from the Phoenix Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Unit are continuing to analyze evidence as part of the ongoing accident reconstruction process to determine the precise circumstances that led to the collision.

The intersection of 32nd Street and Bell Road was temporarily restricted as investigators documented the scene and cleared the area.

Authorities have not released further details regarding potential citations or charges, and the investigation remains active.
