COLTON, Calif. — A tragic act of violence has left the Colton community mourning the loss of Armando Andrez Cayetano, who was fatally shot during a roadway altercation on Monday, October 27, 2025. Authorities have confirmed that Lorens Cota, a resident of Bloomington, California, has been arrested in connection with the homicide. The incident unfolded near the intersection of N. Rancho Avenue and W. Valley Boulevard, where Cayetano sustained life-threatening injuries and later died despite emergency medical efforts.
At approximately 12:36 p.m., officers from the Colton Police Department responded to reports of gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, they found Armando Andrez Cayetano suffering from critical injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Investigators determined that the shooting stemmed from an altercation between Cayetano and another motorist, later identified as Lorens Cota. Witnesses reported that the confrontation began as a verbal dispute before escalating into violence. After the shooting, Cota fled the scene, prompting an extensive police search.
The Colton Police Department Detective Division swiftly took over the investigation. Through diligent investigative work, witness interviews, and video surveillance, detectives identified Cota as the primary suspect. During the evening hours of October 27, 2025, Lorens Cota was located and taken into custody without incident. He was subsequently booked into the West Valley Detention Center, where he remains held without bail on homicide charges.
