In Loving Memory: Armando Andrez Cayetano Fatally Shot in Colton; Suspect Lorens Cota Arrested

COLTON, Calif. — The Colton community is mourning the tragic loss of Armando Andrez Cayetano, who was fatally shot following an altercation near the intersection of North Rancho Avenue and West Valley Boulevard on Monday, October 27, 2025.

At approximately 12:36 p.m., the Colton Police Department Communications Center received multiple reports of gunfire in the area. Responding officers arrived to find Armando Andrez Cayetano suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. Officers immediately rendered aid before paramedics transported him to a nearby hospital. Despite the efforts of first responders and medical staff, Cayetano later succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary information revealed that the shooting stemmed from an altercation between Cayetano and another motorist. The suspect fled the scene immediately after the shooting, prompting an intensive investigation by the Colton Police Department Detective Division.

Detectives quickly gathered evidence, reviewed surveillance footage, and conducted witness interviews that led to the identification of Lorens Cota, a resident of Bloomington, California, as the primary suspect in the case. Acting swiftly, investigators located and arrested Cota during the evening hours of October 27. He was booked into the West Valley Detention Center, where he remains held without bail on homicide-related charges.

This devastating act of violence has deeply affected the Colton community, leaving friends, family, and neighbors grieving the sudden and senseless loss of Armando Andrez Cayetano.
