AKRON, OH — October 27, 2025 — The Akron community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 20-year-old Ti’chara Williams, who was tragically killed in a shooting early Monday morning.
According to the Akron Police Department, officers were dispatched around 5:35 a.m. to the 400 block of Stanton Avenue after reports of gunfire in the area. When officers arrived, they discovered a young woman suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Paramedics with Akron Fire Department attempted life-saving measures, but Ti’chara was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office later confirmed her identity as Ti’chara Williams, ruling her cause of death as a gunshot wound to the torso. The investigation remains active and ongoing as detectives work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and identify those responsible.
Police have not yet released any details about possible suspects or motives.
“This is a devastating loss of a young woman whose life was just beginning,” one community advocate said. “Another family shattered by senseless gun violence — another daughter, sister, and friend gone far too soon.”
Ti’chara was remembered by those who knew her as kindhearted, ambitious, and full of life. Friends described her as someone who could light up any room she entered, known for her bright smile, love of family, and deep loyalty to those close to her. She was a young woman with dreams, potential, and a heart that cared deeply for others.
“She was only 20 years old — she had her whole life ahead of her,” one relative shared tearfully. “She didn’t deserve this. No one does.”
The tragedy has reignited conversations about gun violence in Akron, particularly its devastating impact on young Black women.
As the investigation continues, police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
