PEORIA, ILLINOIS — The Peoria community is once again mourning the devastating loss of a young life following a deadly shooting that claimed the life of 20-year-old Lamelo Gilbert Elisha on Sunday night, October 26, 2025.

According to the Peoria Police Department (PPD Incident #25-21201), officers were dispatched around 8:18 p.m. to the 3200 block of North Isabell after receiving reports of a man who had been shot inside a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers located Lamelo suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Despite the quick response and immediate life-saving efforts by first responders, Lamelo was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division responded and began conducting a full-scale investigation into the incident. Detectives canvassed the area, gathered surveillance footage, and spoke with witnesses as part of their ongoing effort to determine what led to this heartbreaking act of violence.
