STATESBORO, GA — October 26, 2025 — The Statesboro Police Department is urgently seeking the public’s help in locating 21-year-old Khalir Nickens of Sylvania, Georgia, who has been identified as the suspect in the fatal shooting of 30-year-old Deontre Mincey, a native of Portal, Georgia. The shooting took place early Saturday morning, October 25, in the parking lot of 200 Lanier Drive, a commercial strip that includes a bar and smoke shop. A second adult male was also injured and later transported to East Georgia Regional Medical Center with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the arm.

Just after midnight on Saturday, officers responded to the scene at 200 Lanier Drive after reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, there were no witnesses remaining, which initially complicated the investigation.
