Louis Pool and Randall Ravia Identified as Victims in Separate Calcasieu Parish Crashes

STARKS & SULPHUR, La. — The Calcasieu Parish community is mourning the tragic loss of 48-year-old Louis Pool of DeQuincy and 37-year-old Randall Ravia of Sulphur, who were killed in two separate traffic accidents on Saturday. What began as an ordinary weekend ended in heartbreak for multiple families, as both incidents occurred within hours of each other and only miles apart.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) confirmed the fatalities and stated that both investigations remain ongoing.

First Crash: Tragedy on Big Woods Starks Road

The first accident occurred in the early morning hours on Big Woods Starks Road near Creek Road in Starks.

According to deputies, Louis Pool, 48, of DeQuincy, was driving southbound when, for reasons still unknown, his pickup truck veered off the right side of the road. In an attempt to correct, the truck overcorrected, rolled, and exited the roadway to the left.

Pool was partially ejected during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators noted that he was not wearing a seatbelt, a detail that may have influenced the tragic outcome. His passing has left loved ones and neighbors reeling — remembering him as a hardworking man known for his steady loyalty and gentle spirit.

Second Crash: Rollover on West Dave Dugas Road in Sulphur

The second accident occurred just before 11 p.m. Saturday night on West Dave Dugas Road near Choupique Road in Sulphur.

Investigators say 37-year-old Randall Ravia was operating a side-by-side utility vehicle when he attempted to make a turn. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle rolled, ejecting both Ravia and his passenger.

Ravia was quickly transported to a local hospital, where he later passed away from his injuries.

The passenger was also hospitalized and later transferred to another medical facility, where they are currently listed in critical but stable condition. As hope remains for their recovery, family and friends continue to mourn the loss of Randall — remembered as someone full of life, camaraderie, and love for those around him.

Two Communities, One Shared Grief

Though the crashes were separate, the impact has united grieving communities in Starks, Sulphur, and DeQuincy.

Two lives gone far too soon.

Two families navigating overwhelming heartbreak.

And countless friends, neighbors, and coworkers holding memories closer than ever.

Investigations Continue

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office confirms that both incidents remain under investigation. Additional details may be released as the cases progress, but for now, families have asked for privacy as they mourn.

As we honor the lives of Louis Pool and Randall Ravia, we remember:

  • The everyday presence they held in their communities
  • The laughter and stories they shared
