NACOGDOCHES, TX — The community of Nacogdoches is grieving after a heartbreaking act of violence claimed the lives of 17-year-old Dequavious “Qua” Brooks and 18-year-old Edward Alejandro Rivera early this morning. A third victim, also fatally wounded, has not yet been publicly identified as authorities work to notify family members.
According to police, officers responded to calls regarding shots fired and arrived at the scene to find a tragic situation unfolding. One individual was discovered lying in the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, while two others were found inside a vehicle nearby, also critically injured.
Emergency medical personnel rushed to save the victims, but despite life-saving efforts:
- One victim inside the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.
- The remaining two individuals, including Dequavious Brooks and Edward Rivera, were transported to local hospitals.
- Both were later pronounced deceased as a result of their injuries.
