FOREST CITY, NC — The Forest City community is mourning the loss of 25-year-old Tyler D. Weaver, who was found deceased following a violent home invasion reported on Friday morning, October 24, 2025. The incident occurred at a residence located in the area of 114 Harris Lee Drive.
At approximately 9:50 a.m., officers with the Forest City Police Department responded to calls reporting a possible home invasion. Upon arrival, officers secured the perimeter and entered the residence, where they discovered Tyler Weaver lying on the floor with severe injuries. After ensuring the scene was safe, Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services personnel entered the home and confirmed that Weaver had tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Search and Investigation Efforts
Following the discovery, law enforcement conducted an extensive search of the wooded areas surrounding the home and canvassed the neighborhood to locate potential suspects and ensure the safety of residents. Despite the thorough search, investigators believe the suspect or suspects had fled the area prior to police arrival.
The Forest City Police Department, in partnership with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), is actively processing evidence from the crime scene and pursuing all investigative leads as they develop. Detectives are working diligently to determine what led to this violent incident and to identify those responsible.
Authorities have stated that, at this time, there is no known ongoing threat to the public, indicating the attack is believed to have been targeted rather than random.
