PRESS RELEASE – HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION / ARREST

CHESTER, PA — On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, a domestic-related shooting involving Kyle Rhyanes (36), Corey Rhyanes (35), Tonia Rhyanes, and Ka’Brea Johnson occurred in the 500 block of Dorian Drive, resulting in the tragic death of Corey Rhyanes and injuries to Ka’Brea Johnson, according to the Chester Police Department.

At approximately 6:23 p.m., officers responded to reports of a disturbance. As they arrived on scene, a gunshot was heard, prompting officers to immediately upgrade the incident to an active shooter situation.

Upon approaching the residence, officers located Ka’Brea Johnson suffering from a gunshot wound to the hand, along with 36-year-old Kyle Rhyanes, who was uninjured. Both individuals were safely removed from the immediate area for safety.

While clearing the residence, officers discovered 35-year-old Corey Rhyanes unresponsive inside, suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck. Medics pronounced him deceased at 6:44 p.m.

Investigation Findings

Detectives determined that Kyle Rhyanes, Corey Rhyanes, Tonia Rhyanes, and Ka’Brea Johnson had arrived together at the location before an argument escalated into violence. During the confrontation:

  • Ka’Brea Johnson’s boyfriend was shot, suffering a non-fatal gunshot wound.
  • Corey Rhyanes was fatally shot, resulting in his death.

Following interviews and evidence review, Kyle Rhyanes was taken into custody.

Charges & Custody Status

On October 24, 2025, Kyle Rhyanes was arraigned before the Honorable Judge David Griffin of Linwood District Court 32-1-36. He has been remanded to George W. Hill Correctional Facility without bail.
