The Camden community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 57-year-old Joseph Hudson, a familiar and kind presence whose life was tragically cut short on Thursday evening. Joseph, who was known to travel by bicycle through town, was struck and killed in a hit-and-run incident on West DeKalb Street, near Wendy’s, at approximately 8:30 PM. He sadly passed away at the scene.
Joseph’s unexpected passing has left family members, friends, and neighbors in sorrow, grappling with the suddenness and the manner of his loss. His absence is already being felt in the quiet spaces where his presence once moved gently and routinely—on sidewalks, roadways, and corners of town where many recognized him and offered a wave, a nod, or a simple hello.
A Gentle Soul Remembered
Those who knew Joseph describe him as a quiet and humble man. Someone who kept to himself, yet left an imprint on the hearts of those who crossed his path. He was a familiar face to many in Camden—seen walking, biking, and simply living life at his own peaceful pace.
He did not seek attention or recognition, but in his passing, it has become clear that he was seen, valued, and remembered by many.
To the community, Joseph was more than just a bicyclist.
He was a part of the rhythm of Camden.
