The Lubbock community is mourning the tragic loss of 28-year-old Deziree Combs, who passed away after sustaining serious injuries in a motorcycle crash in South Lubbock on October 15, 2025. The accident also left 25-year-old Dawson Baker injured, who remains hospitalized with moderate injuries.
The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Unit confirmed that the investigation into the collision remains ongoing. According to police reports, officers were called to the intersection of 135th Street and Indiana Avenue around midnight after receiving reports of a crash involving injuries.
Upon arrival, officers located both Deziree Combs and Dawson Baker on the scene. Both had been riding a motorcycle southbound on Indiana Avenue when, according to preliminary findings, the motorcycle veered off the roadway as the lane ended. The vehicle then entered a grassy median, causing the driver to lose control and both riders to be thrown from the motorcycle.
Both Combs and Baker were immediately transported via ambulance to University Medical Center. Deziree Combs suffered serious injuries and, despite medical efforts, succumbed to her injuries. Dawson Baker sustained moderate injuries and continues to receive treatment at the hospital.
